Sector3 launch Cost of Living Appeal

In response to Stockport Council’s Call to Action for individuals, businesses and organisations to unite in the face of the Cost of Living Crisis, Sector3 have launched a Cost of Living Appeal.

Jo McGrath, Chief Executive of Sector3 states:

‘Dear Colleagues,

As the infrastructure support organisation for the third sector in Stockport, Sector3 play a crucial role in uniting Stockport’s voluntary, community, faith-based groups, social enterprises and charities in collective action.

When the pandemic hit, Sector3 galvanised crucial financial support for the third sector to deliver emergency frontline services, in the form of a public fundraising appeal. Thanks to the generosity of businesses, organisations and individuals, this appeal raised over £45,000 that went to groups on the ground in Stockport. This funding enabled organisations to continue to deliver on the ground care and support for the most vulnerable in our neighbourhoods.

In response to the Council’s call for unity…

We are once again launching a public fundraiser. This time to fund crucial services to support those struggling in the Cost of Living Emergency.

The money raised will be instantly available to Stockport's voluntary, community groups and charities to fund activity and services that support vulnerable residents through the Cost of Living crisis.

We are already hearing stories from the sector on what they are seeing first-hand in their communities. More and more children bringing empty lunchboxes to school. Stressed families making heartbreaking decisions on heating vs. eating and more.

Local support services do so much for our communities

The Stockport Saving Summer project, which you may have seen on BBC Morning Live over the summer, helped Stockport residents save £5,524 on their energy bills through advice and mediation services.

Funded activities and services could include warm packages, offering advice on bills to vulnerable people and more. There is so much our community organisations can do. They have the skills and experience in order to target support, but they need the funding to deliver.

Can you work with us to help support Stockport’s residents?

We are so grateful for the continued support businesses, residents and organisations give to the third sector. But this winter will see unprecedented levels of hardship as the cost of living bites.

Can you help us:

1. Are you able to donate money?
Every little counts – there is a shopping list on the fundraising page to help give an idea of what your money could go towards

2. Can you share the campaign with your employees / colleagues / friends / family?
We’ve attached a poster that can be put up in social spaces

3. Are you able to fundraise yourself or inspire others in your team / class / family to fundraise?
We’ve attached a cheat sheet of team fundraising ideas

If you give to the campaign please do shout about it so that people can see the generosity and kindness that Stockport offers. I’ve attached a graphic to help you share your support for the campaign.

We are sharing this with all of our key stakeholders but please help us reach every corner of Stockport and share the campaign with your networks.

I look forward to seeing what we can do together once again to help friends, families, colleagues and communities through the tough times ahead.

With Sincere Thanks, Jo’
